Most Luxurious Shave

Yesterday, I broke out my jar of Acqua di Parma and filled up my G20 scuttle with scalding hot water and let my EJ Super Bulbous Chrome handle badger brush soak while I loaded a Red IP into my 1953 Y2 Gillette President. I worked up the most luxurious lather and my bathroom was filled with the most sublime scent I could ever imagine. The shave was long and deliberate.... I had no place to go or to be.... it was a Sunday afternoon. I finished things off with a splash of AdP AS lotion and AdP Colonia Intensa balm and cologne.

We all have different interpretations of "luxury". Some equate luxury with performance. Some with price. Some with quality and comfort. I couldn't help but think to myself that this must be one of the (if not the) most "luxurious shaves" I could put together with the products I have in my den. I could come up with some other combinations of luxury I'm sure.... of creams, soaps, blades, razors, AS.... but I would say that this is my "most luxurious". What is your's?

So far, it TOBS Mr. Taylor with an ASTRA SP blade in either my HD 34c or my Gillette Red Tip. Love the smell of that cream and now my whole bathroom smells like it.

For me it's getting the lather just right and having it nice and hot. My heating system, while it does a good job of heating the house, is woeful at heating the water tank in the attic. Unless I boil the kettle it's a lukewarm to warm shave for myself

For me, "luxurious" means leisurely and pampering, even more so than product used. My last luxurious shave involved face-lathering with Arko. But I took my time, worked up a nice, thick lather, really used the brush to lift every whisker, went for a third pass (I usually just do WTG x2, this time I added an XTG), went nice and slow, even brought in the iPad and listened to Car Talk while I shaved. It was like my own personal spa day :)

That's my kind of luxury! I have custom straights and silvertips but sometimes I love a nice sharp budget straight and good boar brush and some arko, the luxury part is making it something you enjoy! Good work

Yeah, this is what I think of too, but for me it's also using a matching soap and AS. Just makes it a bit more complete. Also, while I'm ok with "pampering" I have to throw in a :a20:

Too many great DEs + Super Iridiums + Mike's/Mystic Water soap/ most of my bruhes, thayers, unrefined shea butter!!! Ah!!!

I crack out the Ralph Lauren Safari tallow soap when I want that luxury.
It has a nice rich scent and makes incredible lather.

Castle Forbes is as far up the luxury scale I go, and I am frankly a little afraid to try anything more expensive. I will never be without some CF in my den. I do appreciate the post - it's nice to have some balance with the I spent $3 on cream, does anyone know of a cheaper one.

When money frees up, I want to go this route with several DR Harris scent lines (up to and including the EDT)

DR Harris pucks are $16 and will last a good while.

Luxury shave? Saturday night after a hot tub with TLOTH. Sometimes I'll break out the AdP or else it's usually one of my weekday rotation soaps but just a LOT slower. Could include a ATG pass too if I'm feeling adventurous as my daily BAU shave is WTG x 2 and go!
