Btw i love this ink, very different will show great on the G/Lalo paper,

just a question though, is this the typical amount (i filled one converter out of tube) you get for samples from the ink drop, and the goulets, Its the first time i have actually ordered them, most of my others have been member pass arounds or from sharing with Sam

Nice pen, James! That ink looks good too, I have never tried it but have heard it is great. I got a bottle of blue ocean yesterday too, but haven't tried it out yet.
The Goulet's send a 2ML sample. I have never ordered samples from anyone else, so I have nothing to compare it to.
I am surprised the cat will still get that close to ink!

Hes picking out a new colour Dave

I have ordered a lot of samples from the Goulets and it really depends on the pen, how far the sample will go. My two Duofolds don't hold a ton of ink, but my 45's will eat the entire sample if I don't remember to take it easy when filling.

The carbon fiber I was worried would look a bit cheesy Celestino, but it has a great look in person its almost hypnotic I really like this one... it and the Conklin are my two top dogs now... one more pen on the way then I promise I'm done buying pens for the year

James:

I know this is an older thread but i'm interested in getting something in a 1.1, or similar, and the Monteverde invincia is catching my eye. I'm interested in your opinion, now that you have tried a number of pens since this thread was started.

Its the only stub i have ever tried though Christopher, I like it and MV nibs are swapable, if its the nib you are after you can get the colour deluxes or a lot of other pens from MV at a cheaper price point, if you look to the Goulets when you buy the pen you can pick which Nib to go with it, this stub is on of my smoother stubs, and ive never had an issue with flow. The other cool thing is that the converter threads into the pen to secure it, and the nib section just turns out like a Pelikan for simple cleaning,

I know Brian doesnt think much of them but for the pens i have had I still like this pen very much, I will say the one i have is the heaviest pen i have, and i can not post it without throwing the balance off, but the only pens i post are my 200's anyway so its not an issue for me.

I have recommended these pens to guys in the under 100 category and will still do so as i like mine that much, if i wasnt on a vintage kick I would buy another MV, in fact there is about 4 or 5 different ones I want to own

Btw since I had this Mendel I believe has also bought one and has a stub nib... also has more diversified pen experience then me he may be able to add more to this for you

I'm trying to decide between the black stealth, and the black tie. Or at least those are the two, that have caught my eye. $12 difference between them but I think the black tie looks a lot more expensive, for some reason, but I keep waffling Lol.

I know that black stealth is a looker in my opinion as well if it wasnt for the sale I probably would have ended up with it

i like its flat look for glossy but thats just me lol I hate being torn like that you are always glad/sad at what you did no matter what, so now in those cases i just sleep on it till a solution presents itself, sometimes i sleep on it so long i save enough money for both lol other times i realize one stays in the cart all of the time and the other just kind of fades, that way i know I needed that item all along

I got an Invincia in Rose Gold (fine nib) off of eBay a month or two ago for ~$40.

I had to soak it in water for hours just to get all the dried ink out of it. It writes well so long as I'm using it frequently, but it gets moody when I don't touch it for a day or two.

I need to get a stub nib for it sooner or later.

Get both! Sorry. Just reflex.
