Razor : Gem MicroMatic, Mfg 1930-41. Excellent mid range to upper mid range. Well made to last, this razor pulled Gem Mfg through the Dirty 1930's time period. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (8) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Ogallala Bayrum sage and cedar, nice scented Bayrum with great lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Black marble" 24 3band silvertip badger. Excellent lather generator, luxury pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. This brush has a nice large bloom when first cleaned and has still a large knot.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum Sandalwood lotion cologne splash+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 9.5.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Gem Micromatic with a coated Gem blade.

Razor: Gem G Bar
Blade: Gem SS PTFE (14)
Brush: Frank badger
Bowl: Captain’s Choice Copper
Pre-shave: Stirling Unscented soap - Proraso White cream
Lather: Stirling Piacenza
Aftershave: Witch Hazel - Stirling Piacenza

Okay. A blade with this many shaves needs a more aggressive razor than the G Bar. Next time.

On this Vintage April Micromatic Monday I choose my 80 year old (repaired) Gem Jr 1912 series. First, I honed the Gem PTFE blade on a 110 year old Stag Sharpener, then stropped it on a 100 year old TwinPlex. After addy my RIGS Shim, I got an excellent shave, barely stirred up yesterday’s cut. A 9.8 on shave 14 for the blade.

Subtle Art Soap Co. Draconis whipped up in a Captains Choice Products copper bowl is a wonderful thing. Add to that a splendid razor like this Ever-Ready Streamline then add the finishing touches of some Geo F Trumper sandalwood skin food and a splash of Draconis aftershave splash and you have one spectacular shave.

I was recently given a GEM Micromatic "bullet-tip" in a PIF. I realized that standard DE blades don't fit.

I was reading about SE blades for the Micromatic in another thread. The stainless steel "PTFE" blades were recommended.

Are any of these the ones I am looking for, or should I look for something else? Prefer buying on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

This is the razor if that helps.

You want the 3 facet blades in the first link. The other two links don't work by the way.

Looking for SE Gem blades I like to buy from Connaught shaving UK. They are a good online retailer and will give anyone a run for quality Gem Personna blade made in the USA for price. It might take a 1-3 weeks depending where you live but with shipping and blades it should be around $20ish USA for 100pcs or 10 pack even better prices. Strong USA dollar goes a long way!

ASRazor shave, Monday, 2024

Razor : British 2nd Generation Ever-Ready Streamline SE, Mfg 1949-53 mid to upper mid range. well built to last Generations and works well when mastered. Used a shim(RIGS) under the existing modern spline of a modern Gem blade to mock the older blades that had thicker splines, it really smooths out the shave for myself and others. Had a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE (8) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild rose cream. This a excellent cream with the scent of roses + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi" Sagrada Familia" 26mm Husky synthetic knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury, heavenly cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Hard to beat this brush for beautiful soft face feel that does every thing for a decent lathering.
Post shave : Italian barber Amici with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Ever-Ready Streamline razor with a coated Gem blade.
