Another great shave with my Gem Junior (1912). I was going to try the Boar Brush, but didn’t want to add too many variables to my shave. I took my time with low pressure passes and got a DFS with no irritation. Fifteenth outing for the Gem PTFE blade.

ASRazor shave, Tuesday, December 6th 2022

Razor : Ever-Ready 1924(AKA shovel head) with a Ever-ready streamline strop handle - Mfg 1924-33, mid range, well built to last, this time of the year in the winter months the ASR razors sure perform well because to the dryness in the air here in Northern Alberta(-35 C today). I put in a Rigs shim underneath the spline of the modern blade and did this razor ever become a smoother shave. One of the best shaves ever with this razor IMO. Always learning about shaving techniques to squeeze more out of my razors by a simple tweak of a blade . Very enjoyable shave this cold crisp day.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(7) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice scent of Vanilla and light tobacco. One of my favorite soaps, used my first glass tub up today and out comes my 2nd jar of 8.5 OZ of goodness.
Brush : Yaqi " Casino clubs" 26mm Timberwolf synthetic , excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber, excellent lather painter. 26mm synthetic brushes are awesome.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Santa Maria del Fiore with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results :CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers=excellent shave with my Ever-Ready 1924 with a coated Gem blade. (It does not get any better a shave then this morning!)

I really enjoy a shave with the GEM blade. Today I gave the vintage holder a go and it didn't disappoint. It lacks the heft of the modern solid SS designs, but it gives a great shave.

Razor : Gem Micromatic OC- MFG 1930-41, well built to last generations, mid to upper mid range, I get great shaves with this razor.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(8) very sharp, great longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier great unique scent (Aramis?) with excellent lather qualities. Yaqi commissioned Master soap creations S.A. to supply soap & fragrance to their line of products.
Brush : Yaqi "Moka Express" 26mm 2band badger, excellent lather generator, soft pillow like tips, excellent spay scrubber + great lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Witch hazel beard cleanse + Yaqi Musketeer AS + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).

I had to get an extra early start today so I went for some tried and true Proraso shaving cream to save me some time. Seeing as it's winter, I had to go with the Sandalwood version. I haven't used this Proraso cream in quite some time so it was about time the two of us got reacquainted.

I face lathered a few dollops of cream with my ever-strong Omega boar brush and was treated to a wonderful warm woody scent in the form of a slick, cushiony base.

Being that it's Micromatic Monday I couldn't resist using my beautiful gold-plated Gem Micromatic "Flying Wing". This is a great razor that provides a great shave that's always a pleasure to use.

I did a three-pass shave and ended up with a DFS+ face.

I really can't speak highly enough about Gem's Micromatic razor or Proraso's cream. They're both legendary in the wet shaving community and deservedly so.

I finish my shave off with a real favorite of mine, some Stirling Soap Company Ramblin' Man aftershave balm. It's a great smooth, woodsy, manly scent and the balm itself is just great.

Another really good shave was had and I couldn't be happier.

Last night’s shave was with my trusty MMOC and a trusting Personna GEM PTFE I accidentally dropped in the sink when reassembling. New GEM up in the razor for Taco Tuesday!

It was the end of Taco Tuesday, but — before slumber arrived — my MMOC and fresh GEM blade (a high chromium alloy drenched in PTFE) made it a Micromatic Monday. Didn’t bang the blade’s edge into the sink this time. If I can internalize long, sweeping strokes for neck and cheeks and chipmunk nibbles for chin and stache, this could well become an autopilot shaver for me.
