Merkur Razors-They need quality control

What's going on at Dovo/Merkur?I just recieved my Merkur Progress 500 adjustable razor from Lee's saftey razors and the razor was damaged at the factory before they plated it.You could not but see the imperfection on the metal surface. If you compare a Muhle/Edwin Jagger to a Merkur both Muhle/EG win hands down on plating quality and customer service.Almost all Merkur razors that I own have nicks on the metal surface before they were plated and the razor head looks like it needs to be grinded down more to get a smooth surface.Maybe Muhle should take over Merkur and watch quality improve.Joe:confused1

Shame :|

send it back my progress was the same, a very tiny tiny buff mark on the handle, i didnt bother sending it back as i got it from overseas.

All but one of my Merkurs have had a good finish. One older Futur that I bought used was terrible. Two Futurs, two Progress and an HD were fine although none were in the Feather or Tradere class. I really wish Feather or Tradere would make a Progress clone in S.S.

My wallet cries.
Mmm, I can't say from experience, but this isn't the first time I've heard of something like this.

So far every Merkur I've owned: one hd 34, 3 slants and one open comb have all had terrible finish. All but one were bought brand new. I now own 0 merkurs and I think it's going to stay that way. I really would like to get a futur but can't bring myself to pay 80-90$ for a razor that looks like crap. Of course ymmv.
