Merker 38c Question

I just got my Merker 38c in the mail, I have been using a cheap Parker safety razor for about 6 months and wanted to upgrade. My quick question is, Should I clamp the top all the way down to the point that it bends the blade a bit or should I leave it somewhat loose and perpendicular?

I remember the morning I didn't have the TTO knob on my SS fully closed...bad memory. Bad!

(Yes, tighten fully -- the blade is supposed to flex.)

Tighten it snug, but don't torque it down.
The long stem design pulls on the cap stud instead of locking down like a true 3 piece razor.
Over tightening will over time pull the brass stem from the Zamak 3 (potmetal) cap.
