Mergress- the holy Grail?

Ive been DE-ing now for about three or four months and loving every minute. Over the period I've tried a variety of razors including Gillette Slim, Fat Boy, Tech, EJ and the Merkur Progress. Of all of these the Progress has to be my favourite. An absolutely stunning performer.

I didn't think anything could top the Progress but this weekend I tried the Mergress- the pumped up, better calibrated Progress. The additional weight of the base makes the shave even more comfortable and closer. I really can't see how the Mergress can be approved upon

It is a fine razor, but if your going to ask about how to improve it

I would add some texture knurling to the handle, and make it a touch wider. Hell in a perfect world the head and adjuster would come mounted inside the handle of a Bull Mastiff Deluxe from Bobs Razor Works.

Merkur Progress has been my first DE razor and the worse one

Just a word to describe it: POOR.

I don't particularly care for adjustable razors. But if I had to have one, I think the Mergress is the one I would choose.

I'm with you.
My Mergress is one of my best razors. period.
The only other true GO-TO in my aresenal is my Bull Mastiff w/1904 head.
Mergress w/ a feather and life is good.

Honestly, my Mergress runs rings around my HD, Pils, Feather, or Muhle. Of the new production razors, it is definitely my favorite.

I still love the 66, 40's super speed, NEW, and 15 more though...

The Mergress is without a doubt the BEST razor I have ever used.

I could not believe how much better Eric made my Progress. I couldn't believe it was the same razor.

I liked it so much, I sent Eric an XL to do his magic on!

Bizio sorry to hear the Progress didn't work out for you. Horses for courses and all that.
Eric does an absolutely fab job with "pimping" the Progress. I really can't see how anything could be better than the Mergress
