Medical Personna

I just got my fifth great shave from a medical grade Personna with no signs of slowing down. I have not been able to get more than four comfortable shaves out of RP's, Sharks, or Derby's. Just wondering if anybody else has found the med personnas to be more durable than other blades?

I have been ready to pull the trigger on those for a while. Guess I have no excuse, as there is a seller in SF that sells them. Edit: Now I can't find the link.

They are quite exspensive as far as I could see from past research. I am sure the shave is great but I question the need for it. I could see paying for the Ted Pella's since there is not a lot of choice in the S/E area, but the D/E market is pretty broad. I think this is something you do knowing it is a luxury item or a treat.

Well at 25 bucks for a hundred they are cheaper than Feathers, Irridiums, Gillettes etc. And they are made in the USA.

Best to call and verify those "feather cuts" before purchasing. A search for the part number doesn't turn up anything for me.

I went to the Robbins site. $25/100 isn't bad, but $8.56 for the cheapest shipping? They could stick them in 1st Class USPS for a couple of bucks. Well, I guess the old saying "it only costs a nickle more to go first class" is obsolete these days. :001_smile

It does stink. Most vendors like to simplify their shipping options, and only like to deal with one carrier. UPS is unfortunately often the preferred carrier--they pick up, offer tracking (that actually works) and insurance, and have a much simpler system of online shipping (often integrated into the sellers sales software) than does the Post Office. But UPS is expensive, for sure.

And as for the price on the blades, I won't mind paying it if these blades give me similar performance to the NOS Personna Platinums I have stockpiled. I have tried every blade Personna makes (save these), none have been as good as the blades they made in the 70's and 80's.

As luck would have it I have some Astra SP's and some Iridium's alond with a Merkur Slant on order so I will be able to compare them. Also I just got BBS shave number six from the med personna still smooth with very little irritation. As long as I have come this far I'm going to see how far I can push it.

I had picked up some "Medical Grade" Personna Injector blades from the bay and also found them to be outstanding. The blades were EMS and fit the injector, shaved really smooth, and lasted a long time. They were also dirt cheap.

Cheers.

I hat that too.....I'll definitely stick with a vendor who uses 1st class mail for small parcels.....fast and cheap!

I use them and was so happy with the shaves from the prep blades (medical grade) that I ordered a 100 pack (for about $25). The Sharks I used came with a defective razor so they didn't really get a fair shake. I have a couple of packs of Red Personnas but haven't used any. I have never tried the Derby.
