All you need is a wire coat hanger & a pair of pliers, you wont get much cheaper than that.

That's actually pretty nice looking. I'll try that when I get home.

I'm currently designing a stand made of chopsticks. I hope to actually make a prototype soon.

Nice job there! Might have to give that a try. Definitely cheaper than the store-bought options and looks pretty damn good. Might I suggest wrapping a little black electrical tape around the base? It would cover up the area where the hangar is wrapped around to secure the whole thing and might give the base a little grippiness on a table.

Nice job there!

I didnt actually make that one, just found a link and picture that I thought a few of you might appreciate.

I did try making one the other day though, it tips over when my bush gets put on, so I need to balance it better, perhaps my base is too small (2.5 inch diameter)

A quick google search gives somewhere between 3 and 3.5 inches for the diameter of a standard mason jar (which is what the instructable said was used) so that might be what's wrecking the stability.

AH! Thank you, will try again at a later date. I might spray it too if it comes out ok. Something bold perhaps, red.

Cool!

I made my own stand when I first started DE shaving:

There was a little more involved than in yours, but the price was the same...

I really like that, think you did a great job.

Actually this design would look much better if it had a wooden base, which would hide the rough circle//stand.

These DIY threads forced me into doing this myself as well. I went ahead and made one out of a wire coat hanger simply to hold my brush while drying or not in use. I'll try and take some pics soon.

I made one of those wire stands and still use it. I have a couple os ssilcox's plastic stands to hold 8 more and a brush, and use the wire to hold the one I'm using now. I helps to have a good pair of heavy lineman pliers though. Use them and a vice grip. About the time it takes to shave you will have something your sig other will either congratulate you on your cleverness for, or wonder why that thing is still on the counter. Fortunate for me, my wife is the former.
