What's new

Looking for a new brush......

I've been using a Vulfix 1000A for about a year. I've liked this brush pretty good, but after about three months, it started losing three to four hairs per shave. It will do this for a week or two, then stop for a week or two, then begin the cycle again. I really like the looks of the Rooney 3/1 Special tortoise shell in Pure Badger. Would this brush be considered an upgrade compared to the one I'm using now?

I own the Rooney 3/1 Special Tortoise in Super, so I can't exactly speak for the quality of the Pure. Nor have I used a Vulfix before. But I've heard excellent things about Rooney's Pure Badger. I would assume that it is more dense than the Vulfix. If you can't afford a silvertip at the moment, I've heard amazing things about Shavemac's Finest Badger Hair grade.

The Rooney 3/1 Super series are great brushes at good prices. Any one will be denser than your current brush and perform wonderfully.

+1 I'd guess that, after the C&E BBB, the Rooney 3/1 Super series gets the most recommendations around here (the 1/1 being another strong contender).

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I can afford the super Badger, I just haven't justified the expense yet. I guess I'm just worried that if I spend $75 on a brush, I'll start wondering if I could've been just as happy with a $40 brush.
