Looking For A New AND Affordable Brush

I'd like to upgrade my brush. I currently use a Tweezerman badger brush which I've had since Fall 2008.

Any suggestions on good brushes that won't break the bank?

Edwin Jagger Best Badger in small or medium size. Under $40.

I second this. My go-to badger brush. Works equally well with soaps and creams, and the bristles don't have the scritchy feeling of pure badger hair.

The EJ Best Badger is a great brush for the price. Works well with both soaps and creams.

You should also consider restoring a vintage handle with a nice knot from TGN. For less than $40 all up you could make yourself a very nice brush that is custom made to your needs.

Perhaps you should consider making your own brush. You could order just the knot you want in terms of size and quality, and put it in your old handle.

The Frank Shaving Finest brushes available on eBay are a big step up from a Tweezerman at a similar price point IMHO. There was some controversy here with the vendor, but the brushes themselves are a good value.

Have you considered a good boar brush? The Semogue 1305 is a great brush.

Another vote for the EJ Best. Works great with soaps and creams. My first, and still gets regular use in my rotation.

Tweezerman was my first decent brush, and still think it's great. if you want to try a boar out get the 1305 semogue for $26.

Also check out the simpson commodore x3. Same height but a little more loft than the colonel, and $10 cheaper. That's what I'd get. I got the commodore x2 but wish it was a bit bigger. Do it!
