What's new

Looking at Leresche lately, can anyone share more about them?

Looking at the open comb, but would like to know more about them, fair pricing for a user grade?

Hope I can pick one up soon.

Any eye candy, stories behind yours?

They are great looking sets. Sometimes I think I like them more than Gillettes. Here are mine:

Wow Ace, that's a very nice Leresche collection!

@Vitamin Shave, Leresche is one of the two non Gillette vintage DE's that I have in my rotation (other one being the Eclipse red ring). They're nice shavers, and my experience has been that my Leresche #51 is on the milder side, even when loaded with a Feather blade. However, YMMV since my beard is pretty tough.

So the question still remains, what does one have to spend to get a good condition user grade specimen, not a collector grade pristine model?

Kinge and DrAwkward:

Thanks. The #51 (Thick Handle) and the #34 (thin handle) have the same head design and shave the same with the #51 having more weight. My favorite to look at? I love them all! But I'm not sure about the one to the right of the traveler set in the back row... The razor is Leresche but the case has a weird Leresche logo glued onto it.

Jeff_H:

Search the sold listings on eBay - that will give you a very good idea.

It varies by models....the Open combs were made in larger amounts and go for less. The #77 is more fragile due to its parts and build so they did not last in vast amounts. This make it more rare and expensive.

I paid $50 for my user-grade #51. This #77 just sold on the 'Bay for more than $300.

Even with a crack on the handle it sold for $300 ...

From eBay seller details:

For sale is The very Sought After Cased Leresche #77 safety razor in excellent condition as you can see in the pictures provided the plating on the razor is pretty much perfect as far as I can tell(apart from some plate loss on the top cap screw shaft) there is a small but stable crack to the handle as can be seen in the 5th pic..
