What's new

Look what came in the mail today~

Thursday I bought a 59 Fatboy and a Krona from Krona Kruiser and they showed up earlier today, 2 days early:

He threw in a few different blades for me to try out and a sample of Erasmic cream. The cream was so melted in the 106 degree weather here in KY that it looked like he sent a aftershave sample..there was a bubble floating around in it and everything. It's solidified quite a bit by now.
I probably won't be in a hurry to try the Feathers anytime soon lest I end up bleeding to death on the bathroom floor.

I've fallen in love with both the Fatboy and the Krona before I even had a chance to shave with either of them..I've been sitting here all day playing with the mechanisms...I'm very easily amused.

Upon opening the Krona I noticed that there are a few small spots of what looked like rust. But having just now re-opened it the spots scraped off with just a scrape from a fingertip..it's some kind of brown residue of some sort.

EDIT: This is probably in the totally wrong sub-forum...but it's late and I'm dang tired. :p

Nice score. I'm fond of Kronas myself. I tried the scrubbing bubbles with an old toothbrush on mine and it looks new.

Yeah I think the brown stuff in the Krona might be left over from Krona Kruiser's cleaning. I could be wrong. It'll clean off in no time.

Nice score...just took delivery of a Fatboy today myself. What will we all do when the fruits of our Nation's industrial efforts run dry. Heaven save us from carts and aluminum Weishis.

Loaded the FatBoy up with a fresh Crystal Platinum Chrome today and went to town.

Long story short.."5" is way too aggressive..my face..it burns...and bleeds...lol

Was a damn smooth/close shave, though.

Just an FYI, there are many good modern razors being made today. It may be blasphemous for me to say so, but I prefer most moderns to vintage razors.

Heresy!!! Actually, I've never even tried a modern DE razor. I love my vintage herd so much I just can't justify paying for a new one. Maybe one day I'll pick one up.

+1 I have a Merkur 33C which was my first razor purchase. I used it consistently for the first few days until I recieved my first vintage razor. Now, the Merkur only comes out every great once in awhile on 'Merkur Mondays'.

I have the same Krona but have not use it yet. It looks like a quality made razor thats for sure. Good luck with your new tools :biggrin1:

I have a EJ DE83 that was my first razor.
Just one shave with the 59 FatBoy and I can already tell it's an entirely different experience.

Hey BallisticBurrito glad to see that you finally scored yourself an adjustable!

Sounds like you are truly enjoying it. I know I feel the same way about my vintage razors.

Thanks, he made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I just need to find the right setting..tried 5 yesterday..removed parts of my face with it.

Just realized...while I can't afford a 50's Bel-air (there's a blue coupe for sale down the road..) at least I can afford a 50's razor!

Baby steps!

And just think shaving with the 50's razor you just may get the same satisfaction of driving that Bel-air (with a lot less ownership cost/burden).

It's all perspective!
