L'Occitane Verdon aftershave?

Has anyone had the chance to try out the new L'Occitane Verdon aftershave yet? I know the line just came out recently, but I haven't had a chance to sniff it in a store yet. The peppermint EO they claim to be in the product seems to be interesting.

While the cologne seems to not have gotten much thumbs up from the few B&Bers that's sniffed it (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=149712) I wonder how well the aftershave splash.

I still miss the CADE though....even though all the L'Occitane sales associates swear up and down that it's coming back.

I had the chance to try it and was less than impressed. It smells cheap, prissy and all kinds of boring - nothing compared to Cade and its rough, manly scent. In my opinion (and our bathroom looks like a L'Occitane commercial, I've spent thousands of bucks there in the past couple of years) it's a complete failure - then again if you're into pepperminty sweetness it might be something for you.

I tried it the other day and I hated it. I am a big fan of Cade. Verdon is too fresh smelling and just plain boring.

A lot of folks have said the same thing, so I emailed them to see if there was a chance. Here's what I got:

Thank you for contacting L’Occitane.

Unfortunately, the Cade Splash has been phased out. We do suggest you try our new men’s like Verdon which has a similar face splash. For your convenience we have included the link to our website where you can find the product.

I got a sample and I have to say I didn't care for it much. The saleslady (Ala Moana Mall, Honolulu) said it wasn't selling well and they'd had a few returns. At that price point, it seems a bit much.

I just used a sample, and I thought it was quite good. I've seen a lot of complaints about strong peppermint tones, but I thought it was more of a floral, "day at the beach" type smell.

My skin feels great afterwards, not quite as sticky as my skin food, but almost as supple.

I might even pick up a bottle.

I smelled it at a trip to the mall earlier this week. I was never a huge fan of cade (I didn't dislike it, I just didn't like it a whole lot either), which I guess puts me in the minority here. Verdon smells...a bit teenagery. Definitely a fresher smell, and I'd agree that it's somewhere in the vicinity of Acqua di Gio. Not something I'd wear on a daily basis, as it's rather strong, but it's not terrible either.

i just tried some of the aftershave splash tonight from a sample i bought from Gary's samples.
it was only ok...didnt seem better than anything else....i prefer proraso splash to this verdon splash.

I tried it. In terms of performance, it's ok. Not in the same league even as Cade, but ok. However, to me, it smells like stale leftover melted peppermint. Like maybe a few candy canes that got left in the Christmas tree decorations box and stuck in a hot attic for a year.
