Aftershave Modification

So, I have this Gillette aftershave I bought, but the mouth of the bottle is too big. It dispenses about four times more aftershave than needed. Even trying to block half the opening with my thumb didn’t help.

So, I decided to transfer it to an empty Yardley aftershave bottle I had. But then I thought, “I’ve never really liked this aftershave's fragrance, so why not improve it?”
  • I had some essential oils on hand, so I added a few drops of sandalwood and vetiver essential oils.
  • Since it’s winter and skin tends to dry out, I added some vegetable glycerin .
  • To increase the quantity, I poured in some isopropyl alcohol I had purchased. It has a nice wintergreen oil fragrance, though it stings more than the ethyl alcohol usually used in aftershaves.
Now, the aftershave has a better fragrance and excellent moisturizing ability. The color has turned a bit milky, though.

Good idea arnuld - you literally only need a drop of glycerine because it's an emulsifier and it will go milky but still does the business - I'm a herbalist so love making my own scents - did a Bay Rum a few weeks ago and gave it to a B&B member who seemed to like it.

Not made for these times.

I've never heard of the Gillette Pro Icy Cool.

That's surprising to me. I thought Gillette created this aftershave internationally in Europe and US first, and then started selling in India. Gillette sells it at 3-4 times the price of all other aftershaves

I'm a Lumberjack.
I usually add menthol crystals to aftershave and have never had any issue with adding too much. I just use a spoon and go by the eye.

Glycerin I’ve found that one drop too many makes it more sticky and gooey.
