I am having my lather dry out on my face too fast and wind up with soap flakes rather than lather. What do I need to do to improve the dryout time of the lather?

More product and more water.... if that doesn't work, add more of both (seriously!)

+1. That was easy enough, wasn't it!? You probably are shaving pretty slowly if it's drying out to that extent.
Are you using Williams ? If so, could be your problem.

Just dip the tips of your brush into the water and give your lather (While on your face) a quick swirl.

More water, perhaps a few drops of glycerine in the bowl when mixing.
This is almost always the answer to any lathering problem with soaps or creams.
Grab a rubber shaving mug and a small mirror and shave in the shower. The water mist and steam will not only soften your whiskers, it will keep your lather hydrated during your shave.
