lather cathers with sterling stamp?

i bought a lot on ebay recently and there were 5 lather catcher heads that have "sterling patented feb 18 1896" stamped on them. there is no ornate estching on the head like there normally would be. 4 of them are star and one is kaiser says either star or ksr where the blade sits. does anyone have idea what these are from? i thought it was odd that the star and the kaiser razor both have the same stamp. so my questions are ahy are there no etching? why do the star and kaiser heads both have the same stamp? and the little knobs that are in some of the heads seem odd as well. they are just smooth short knobs and thats it. any info would be great. thanks guys

Wow, those are really cool!!!

Cant help too much with your questions,
The ones without hinges, predate the hinged ones
I only see one (top right) that has the "knobs", those should be screws that adjust the tension of the blade hold down brackets.
Are you sure it says Kaiser and not Kampfe?
According to Waits, he shows 2 Sterling sets and they also have no engravings and are the hinged type
Handles would of been mother of pearl, ivory or Sterling

Thats amazing you scored 5 of these in one lot, I have yet to find one!!

This is from Waits if you dont have a copy

They are Kampfe model HRS-1 and the hinged ones are HRS-2 type A's and B's the type B had ajdustment screws instead of the spring clips on the type A. Typically they were no markings as they would be engraved for the buyer, they were the higher end of the Kampfe line. They would come with mother of peal, ivory and celluloid handles. You have the handle caps on some that would have connected the handle to the razor. The 1896 stamped inside the lather catcher with hinges were manufactured in 1902. They are rare but without the original handle's value is tough to say, they also look rough/tarnished. Could you post the ebay listing?

ok i have FINALLY taken better pictures. sorry it took so long i have a lot of razors to clean. i only polished one. they take FOREVER to polish. so many little nooks and crannys. i also added a picture of another lather catcher from the same lot. there were also 10 straights either chipped or cracked (only a few arent), a shavette, 4 of the wedge blade sharpening things, a se razors that doesnt have any stamps, some scissors, and a wedge blade handle for sharpening. as i was writing this it dawned on me that the sharpening handle is on of the ivory pieces from the sets. ill take pictures of it and the others sharpeners. until then here are the pictures of the lather catchers
