Lanolin Products?

Godrej has peg-lanolin 30 or something like that. PEG = polyethelyne glycol - a "potentially carcinogenic petroleum ingredient that can alter and reduce the skin's natural moisture factor"

Lanolin in this form would seem to be more of a marketing gimmick than anything.

Prairie Creations has a lanolin formulated soap as well as the others mentioned.

These good-for-you/bad-for-you debates never end well, but FWIW, a study published in the International Journal of Toxicology (Vol. 18, Issue 3, April 1999) found that PEGs Lanolin, including PEG-30, were safe as currently used.

Specifically, no evidence of mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, or reproductive and developmental toxicity was found with these related compounds. Although metabolites of ethylene glycol monoalkyl ethers are reproductive and developmental toxins, it was considered unlikely that the relevant metabolites would be found in or produced from the use of PEGs Cocamine in cosmetic formulations.

What can I say? I'm a Godrej fan. Don't spread it on your toast and you'll be fine. :001_smile

Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I like Godrej, too.

There are a few Portuguese shaving creams that contain lanolin:

From Ach.Brito/Claus Porto:
- Musgo Real
- Lavanda (recently discontinued)

From Confiança soaps:
- O Melhor
- Veleiro
- Top Secret

There is also Goldex shaving cream, but this one is just an average performer, not too much to talk about this one.

I must be going nuts. For years I was of the understanding that Erasmic and Ingrams both contained lanolin. Just checked a couple of tubes and no mention (although only menthol (Ingrams) and coconut and glycerine (Erasmic) are mentioned). not sure what is on the boxes though. I am going to take a leap and say that they do........
