Kriss Kross Safety Razor Blade Strop!

I was at a garage sale this morning and found one of these

doohickeys in its original box with all the paperwork (scans to follow). It's an automatic DE blade stropper, I'd guess 1930s vintage.
The leather seems to be in good shape, but should I dare try stropping one of my DE blades with it?

Why bother to strop today's DE blades? Its not like they're uber-expensive or hard to obtain a new one.

But If you're going to try it out, give the metal parts a good soaking in Simple Green or Scrubbing Bubbles, followed by a few minutes dip in Barbicide.

As to the leather portion, if you can remove it, give it a good cleaning with Saddle Soap, followed by some conditioning like LubriDerm.

Modern stainless steel blades have coatings and such that would likely be ruined by attempting to strop them.
