Knowing what you want and thinning the herd!

Hello gents. Ive come to some conclusions lately(well not really as I want to hear what you guys think first). I have quite a few stones that produce nice edges but meh! Not sharp enough. My cotis, and my kouzaki just don't get the keenness that Im looking for. Before I fire sale these, any other suggestions? My cotis Ive done heavy slurry, light slurry, water only and the edges produced are definitely shave ready but not what I like to shave with. Im spoiled from ,my suehiro 20k, the nakayama asagi mizu and ozuku asagi. These produce very keen edges and that's what I like to use. I got rid of my nortons and naniwa 12k recently. And why not thin the herd out some more being that I don't think I want to shave off these edges.ANyway you guys are great so any feedback is appreciated.

Just sell them. I used to hang on to stones as well, but now that I have sold most of them with just two more to go, it's a freeing feeling! My Nakayama Koppa is exactly what I've been looking for all this time. I did the same with razors, just constructing a nice seven day set with one razor from each major razor producing country.

In the bank you can get 1-2% a year. Stock market if you're lucky you can get 5% or if you gamble your money maybe a bit more.
I think in the long term all of the vintage stones and razors you have will appreciate at a greater rate. I might be in the minority here but I think of my collection as a usable investment.
Its not that I never sell things, but only to buy something with a greater opportunity for future return.

We all have more stuff then we need around here. I get rid of the things I am not happy with the way they perform unless it has sentimental value like my grandfathers old shaving stuff. I also have my wifes grandfathers old tech. Its kind of beat up and I dont use it much. Other then that I dont have room for things I am not happy with.

If it were stones I would only keep them if I didnt have something else that I was happy with and keep trying to get them to work

I like your view gumbo. I'm now going to tell my wife "it's part of our portfolio". Lol

Kidding aside, I have trouble parting with stones even if I never use them.
