Khaki set

I was browsing the bay today, and came across a this set:

Not sure why, but no one was bidding on it. It was ending in a few minutes, so I made a bid. And won it! I've always halfway wanted to start a collection of military issue razor sets, I guess this is the first step down that path.:blush:

But I can quit whenever I want!!!:crying::crying::crying:

It looks awesome, I was really pleased with myself when I found a Canadian Army kit on ebay... though I did have a bit of a bidding war with two other guys so I had to take money out of the Brown Leaf budget to cover it. Shaves like a champ after 60 years though! You will have to tell me how it is! I would like to pick up a bit some more army kits, I think I like them more than regular sets from the same era.

Alex, it was $17.49 plus $2.50 shipping. I swear, only $19.99!!

Nice set John and a great price! I find the military sets have a huge allure, especially if they have some history.

I have two sets in particular that are great prizes to me as I was able to get history on both of them.

One I purchased off a gentleman - the razor set belonged to his father who served in WWII. He was able to give me each and every battle and location it was carried through during the war, all through the Pacific theater. Some major battles saw that razor pass through :)

The other set - a Canadian issue (much like myself :) ) I purchased from a store not far from my home in Ontario. The store owner had bought it from an estate sale and he had it listed with several other items with the name of the estate owner on a placard. This, combined with the serial number that was written on the inside of the case itself allowed me to track down the soldier and division - a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force

I was curious as this particular set looked to have minimal use. Once I tracked down the soldier I understood why. He was a part of a bomber crew that was involved in a major air battle in WWII attacking the Lorient docks and his plane was shot down and he was killed around 3 months after being deployed. His kit, most of which had little use was packed and shipped back to his wife. She put it in her attic and there is sat for around 70 years until her death.

Amazing.

Congratulations on a great catch! Please post some more pictures when you get it or I'm telling Ralph and Spotz.

Congrats on the great buy!! I've got an ever ready 1910 service kit and a 1910 valet auto strop service kit, I to am intrigued by these old military sets. I got mine from Razor Emporium a few months ago, and they are mint! I love it when someone gets a bargain on a nice set like that. Great job sir!

I think with a little more research I will want to expand my razor collection to have more military issue kits. Sort of stops me from buying razors willy nilly and gives me something to search for with a bit more passion. Again I love the kit! Hope we can find more of them out there.
