What's new

Just ordered the EJ DE87

From QED, along with some Proraso splash, Astra SP blades, and an alum block. I can't wait to try out the EJ.

Tell me how much you love yours so I'll be super-excited when it gets here!

I have the chromed one. And I tell it's a beuaty. Had a simple Lord Tech before that I thought was nice and quite OK. It still is but when I got my EJ I had something to compare with and MAAAAN. The EJ its so much nicer in
every aspect. Build quality, heft, finish etc. I wouldn't say to much about
performance because I only shaved twice with it so far but I'm very
satisfied with mine and I'm sure you will be with yours. Good luck

Having something to compare my Tech to is definitely a factor in this purchase. I like the 3-piece design, and have heard glowing reviews.

I ordered the Ivory one.

I bought an ivory handled one a couple of months ago, and have to say that it is the best razor I own.

I have a 1920's 'New' style, 1930's Canadian Tech, a 1950's TTO British Parat. I like them all for different reasons, but if I had to choose one it would be the Jagger. The blade angle, the weight... It just feels right.

Be sure to post your impressions when you first use yours.

Andy, I have the EJ DE87 and I could tell you many beautiful things about this fabulous razor.
But I won't.
It is not necessary.
You simply purchased the finest modern Double Edge razor on the market today.
Enough said.

i LOVE products which are modest in their greatness.

my DE89L has a plating job that expensive razors would envy and the performance is simply stellar. elegant, affordable and handsome to boot.

what more could anyone want?

Im glad i chose this as my first razor, what a beauty.
I could see this razor being sold at 2x as much.

Nice purchase.
I have the Muhle R89 and R016. Both great razors. Shave very well, comfortable, and they look splendid!

The Feather all-stainless got me interested in another DE razor. The EJ's are now high on the list of which razor to actually buy (my only other DE I used to own was a Futur, which I liked well enough...)

SO- EJ looks nice, and people seem to love them. Now another question: open comb, or not?

As a straight user I like tha idea of having less stuff in front of the cutting edge (i.e.-open comb) any input?

That's all you had to say! Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!

I have got the EJ DE87 chromed one from QED too with some Proraso cream, TOBS cream, blades and others.
It's a beuaty! I'm very glad!
Good luck!

You made a great choice! It is probably the best DE shaver out there, leaves the vintage DE models in the dust. I have the DE89, and it is of one of only two razors I have in regular rotation.

Happy shaving!

I LOVE my DE89! The only thing I didn't like was the shortish handle, so I put one of CoonCatBob's great Ultra Lite XL aluminum ones on there. Now, it's absolutely perfect for me.

FWIW, I've found that Feather blades are the best match to the EJ. Everyone's mileage varies of course, due to different shaving styles, technique differences, etc., so other blades might work better for you. I'll be curious to hear how the Astra SP's match up for you. I haven't had a chance to try those yet.

Congrats on the purchase, and enjoy!

I have yet to try Feather blades. I wanted to get something a little sharper than Derbys, and still well respected, so I got the Astras to try out. I'll get around to trying Feathers eventually.

I made a Mama Bear's purchase today, so I'll have two packages by the end of the week View attachment 103848. Got the Spellbound Woods and Dublin Irish Tweed soaps and the Dublin Irish Tweed cologne.

Don't fear the Feather! I was so nervous the first time I tried them.....turns out to be the smoothest, sharpest baldes ever for me. No drawbacks whatsoever.

Of coarse YMMV....:wink2:
