What's new

Just another Arko shave thread

I used Arko this morning and liked it.......
The smell was fabtastic and the moisterrizing capabilities were on point.
I enjoyed my shave this morning and you can just.......:biggrin1:

And so soon after the Hater's made a peace offering, oh well here we go again :a3:

Glad to hear you enjoyed Arko!

Can we just have one "I love Arko" and one "I hate Arko thread"? The people who find and like Arko can keep talking about how muxh they like it. And those who don't will soon get bored telling each other how much they hate a product they never use anyway.

We'll just continue to hate a product that has no redeeming qualities for us. *shrug*

I would have to agree, overall one thread for each side would do fine.

I just shaved with Mike's this morning...............CHECKMATE!

I'm glad you found something you like. To each their own. My opinion still stands though. It works OK, but smells horrible.

Well, if you look around, there is more than one thread where people praise Tabac. And where people bash Tabac.
There are a lot of threads where people dis on the Veg. And a lot of threads where people praise it.
I've seen many threads on Feather Blades, both pro and con.

If we combined every thread that had a similar theme, we'd have about a dozen threads with 10,000 posts in each.

As a compromise, I renamed the thread to reflect what it truly is, rather than having a title which seems to want to poke someone in the eye unnecessarily.

Just sayin'

Some would argue that's a good place for it!
Not me, I use it fairly frequently.
To be honest, I don't understand the passion that some have for disliking a product (any product). I mean, if you don't like it, don't use it right?
People praise products because they like and use them, and believe that others may also.
Does anyone really think it's best not to ever try a product because someone else didn't care for it?

It is good to have views on a soap (pros & cons) but I would like to try them all (just money and SWMBO stopping me) and be the judge myself.
If I had listened to the latest re Trumpers soap I would not have tried Eucris. It took a few goes to dial it in but was happy once I did.
There are also soaps that don't get talked about here. A blind buy can be fun as well.

I get you.

I like pro and con reviews too. I'm glad there there are people who state they didn't like xxx because it was xxx. It gives me balance on stuff I have not used.

What I am talking about is the fans and the haters

The fans rave on about a product, because they like it so much. They want others to try it, so that they may find that they like it too. Many won't but some will.
The haters on the other hand don't just say they don't like something and won't buy it. They are just as exuberant about a product as the fans, but in the opposite direction.
I don't understand that passion in a negative direction.

Should no one ever try something because some don't like it? The list of acceptable products would be pretty darned slim if that were the case. Look around, you can find someone who doesn't like just about anything.

I like the Veg. No secret there. I do try to get other people to try it, most don't, but some do. I have posted about it frequently.

I don't like Pinaud Bay Rum or Osage Rub. But for the life of me, I cannot imagine starting a thread, or constantly harping about how I think PVIBR smells like someone spilled the office Christmas Party punch bowl, or that Osage Rub is a dead ringer for Vicks Vapo Rub.

I have said those things before when expressing an opinion about it, but I certainly can't understand going on and on about it. Nor can I understand the concept of trying to get someone else not to try it because I don't like it.
That seems egotistical, narrow minded and intolerant.

Lately, many threads, not just Arko, have been in the general discussion forum, such as specific posts about razors, razor blades, soap, brushes, scores made, etc. There are already specific forums established for these specific topics but they're still being posted in the general discussion forum. Not a rant but definitely something I've been observing lately.

I can't imagine a rule that says: "R41 goes into this thread", "MdC goes into that thread"
Takes the fun out of the already limited topics...

I mean - it.is.so.ridiculously.easy.to.avoid.such.threads.instead.of.opening.them.to.rant.and.contribute.to.its.lifespan- right?

Maybe people are bored - can we have a new section that discusses shaving below the waist?

Sigh can't we just agree that arko is a shave soap that gives a decent lather, is easily mashable into a container of your choosing, and is conveniently in stick form so you can rub it in your face for face lathering? Yes of course, ymmv on the scent, but it's not 'repulsive'...it's just not pleasant for some?

100% agree!

The anti Arko thread is mostly about humor, barring one or two members. Almost nobody there has any mal intent.

Wow, Did I poke a honets nest or what. Had no Idea a Just kidding type of thread would turn out to be so sensitive. Please forgive me I will not post another like it again. To each his own like or dislike, life is too short to be upset over soap. Thanks for the interest. You may delete this thread is you see it is needed.
