Judicious June

After having failed miserably at No Spend May, and recently realizing how utterly obsessed with finding new shaving products I've become, I have decided to go all of June without spending money on, or acquiring through trade, any new shaving items. I'll extend it to fragrances and bath soaps too.

Why you ask? Last Friday I PM'd a fellow member about buying a brush on the BST. As part of my expression of interest, I inquired as to why he wanted to rid himself of such a beauty. His truthful, rational, and thoughtful response made the old peabrain's several synapses fire and before I knew it, I was standing in my bathroom surveying my bounty. I left the bathroom feeling a bit absurd and ridiculous. I decided to not purchase the brush - probably not the result he had hoped for - but I am thankful for his honesty.

In fact, I think I will strive in the opposite direction all month, and will attempt to not only use up product, but purge some stuff I no longer use or want via sales and perhaps a PIF here and there.

Judicious June is nearly upon me. Fare me well brothers.

No hope for June, though. I need more shaving creams...

Well I am in. I've made the decision to not spend any cash on shaving or fragrances until September (my birthday month). This will give me time to enjoy what I have and not lurk on BST here and on other forums. Of course this means I have today and tomorrow to make a few purchases...

I'm IN! Whew, I just PayPal'd Garry from Garry's Sample shop for a 1/4 split of SMN.

Meanwhile, I unloaded some earlier purchases, reloaded my RR Mughetto di Bologna, got a new TFS soap, and Marco sent me some new formula Proraso (green tub), Cella and a Valobra stick. I asked Garry to do the SMN, so I thought I might end up spending in June, but I got it all done under the wire.

Den pared down a little, new ammo in the armory, I am ready for June lockdown!

I'd be in, but if one of my remaining nine "Top Wanted Razors" on my list shows up for sale, I'd buy it and then have to feel bad later. I prefer to have a Justified June followed by a Jubilant July than a Judicious June followed by either a Jealous July or a Jilted July.

Glad to see so many others are feeling the same way about out of control ADs. Together we will make it! Or maybe at least one of us will manage to lose his wallet and simply won't be able to cave.

I think later today I will put up a pair of horseys on BST - the Bullgoose LE and the spaniard wee. The pare-down commences!

Well, I thought I couldn't join in the joy of Judicious June, because I've been waiting for June 1 so I could buy another Fatip razor to use in my blind blade tests - I was trying to observe No-spend May.

But, I failed in that, because I was in London this week near DR Harris and, well, Windsor has been released. So, that means, if I order and pay for my Fatip today, while it's still May, I'll have failed No-spend May by even more, and I'm set to start an attempt on Judicious June tomorrow!

So, the Fatip is on its way, and maybe I'll manage a whole month without buying anything

The thing that needs to be done is to stock up the month(s) before, and ration out new items through the no-spend month(s), so at least it feels like you're still spending...

So far this year I'm 1 for 5, only making it through March without a purchase. I'm shooting for a judicious June, unless Simpsons new cream jumps the pond this month.
