Joseph Wostenholm razors

Hi every one
Im not sure how to go about this really but here goes, basically i came across B&B whilst searching for a razor made by Joseph Wostenholm and it turned up one that was being sold by one of your members, anyway the reason I wanted one was because Joseph was my great great great grandfather and as i am doing my family history i thought it would be nice to have one to along with all the other mementos, so having told this to the member how was selling it he suggested i post the information here in case any one was interested

Very interesting, and i can see why you would want one, i only have one and its not for sale, but they do come up on the bay, i got mine from a local antique store, though you never know, someone on here may hear your call.

Welcome to B&B!

Stick around, you can probably gather more information. As for buying one, I would suggest posting a WTB (Want to Buy) thread in the WTB sub-forum. If you are looking for anything in particular, size, grind, scales, price, etc. someone might be able to help...

That was me!

I thought the B&B community would be interested to know that you ancestors are the original Wostenholm family. Phillip I haven't sold the razor, I only pulled it off the listing so that I could list other razors. I was going to keep it but under the circumstances it would be better with you. I'll PM you.

Excellent! Now we know who to send our complaints to if our Wostenholm razors don't work!

Seriously though, that's a wonderful family connection, and I hope you manage to get the razor. Or several razors. Will you be shaving with them?

Used a Wostie as some folks call them, just yesterday and it gave me one great shave. Found it at an antique store with some cheesy scales and had it honed and rescaled. It's one of my favorite razors. I'll try to find a link to a photo for you. Hang in there. You'll find one in little or no time. Good luck!

Found it. Here's the link. You'll have to scroll down a bit past the Wade and Butchers, but it's in there. The Original Pipe Razor. Maybe you can tell me where that name comes from.

Wostenholms are excellent razors & you are lucky, they are IMO one of the more commonly found Sheffield brands.

But how cool is your ancestry :w00t:

If you'd like, please tell us more!

Imagine what a surprise it was for me to receive an email from Phill about his ancestry. I thought to myself what an exciting story for the B&B community to know. I am hoping that maybe Phill can share some stories with us. I have 4 Wostenholm razors but only one is restored and my chopper is reserved for Phill. :)
