What's new

Joining the buterscotch club, if you had 20mm what would you do?

So after some intense negotiation I finally picked this brush up this past weekend at the flea market.

I removed the knot since it was more or less dead. I have 19mm as is but I think I can get that out to 20mm if need be. Im looking for some knot suggestions, for now im thinking TGN. Is there anything else out there?

I only have one 20-mm, but it is graced with a Shavemac D01 flattop. I decided on that because folks say that a flat-top feels larger than it is. The handle is an Erskine E1000, and Rudy Vey did all the work.

TGN Finest. I would not go with the TGN Finest F2, as I find it has less density and backbone than the Finest. Or, if I was willing to invest more into the brush, I would ship it to Rudy Vey and get a D01 2-band, or a D01 silvertip.

My go to brush for everyday use is an old Vulfix handle with a 20mm TGN Finest in it. Perfect blend of scrub, backbone, and softness.

Widen the hole and fit a nice 24mm TGN finest XH.

My favorite restore is a TGN finest 24 / 48 bulb.

That handle looks like it could open up considerably. Just use a sanding dremel bit.

The hole is actually 27mm to give it some wriggle room and it performs magically.

Gorgeous handle, Dave-- nice work! I'll join the chorus in favor of a 2-band knot. It'll complement that handle very well.

I have a 20 mm buterscotch handle with a finest knot in it and it really does look good. The knot is a Heaven Horse brand High Mountain. Whatever name it is called, it's still a two band finest, and it complements a butterscotch handle.

Nice looking handle, finding a true catalin butterscotch at a flea is one of the better ways to collect these handles. Very satisfying.
