Jeness' Blade - a nice custom

Jeness posted this over in the hobby forum. I wanted to follow up and I don't have a hobby badge but I wanted to brag about the blade. I bought it from him - he did a great job and it was very reasonably priced. Here is the blade picture he posted:

The workmanship is professional and the heft and balance are excellent. I got it today and was amazed how big it was. While I specified it, actually seeing it was a trip. I took a picture of it beside a CJB with a handle to give perspective. I'll shave with it later but right now, I'm just admiring it. Nice job, Jeness.

I would have bet Paco would like it. It is huge and he is a lover of big things!

The grind is about 1/2 hollow or so. Again, it is what I preferred - didn't want a wedge or near wedge. Wanted it to be symmetrical, etc. It seems to have a nice edge on it already. The jimps are large and it fits my big hands easily. I think I can hold onto it without a problem. Passed an HHT with ease. Will strop it and whack away shortly.

Very cool blade. I think Rick may be onto something about the grind too - or it's the camera angle or something.

Stropped it with the Kaniyama and noticed that the toe and heel of the edge were scary sharp. Muted them with the edge of a barber's hone. It is likely the sharpest new blade I've received. Gave a very nice shave. Jeness knows how to hone, too.

I am particularly happy you liked the edge on it too, I try to improve my skills every time I hone. It is good to hear that my edges are better than I thought

Yep. Good edge. I like to 'improve' all my razors that I get but, so far, I haven't touched this one. Just strop and use. Did I mention it was big? ;-} I can still get my neck region - where I have to attack East/West like some others do. The blade asks you to hold it any way you wish. I did resort to putting a dab of styptic on my finger tips - really helped with holding it securely.
