It's Fall - Time For Newsboy Caps

Hey chaps. Do any of you wear newsboy caps? I have two of these made by Brett a B!Wear Caps. Brett does outstanding work and I think his caps start at only $35 or so. They are hand made and mine are of superb quality. You can get them in lots of different fabrics, including fabric you send to him. As I did for one of the caps. Unfortunately, it was way too heavy a material and the cap can only be worn on the coldest days. I would suggest emailing Brett and speaking with him about it. Remember, these can be worn with sport jackets and ties or even suits if you contrast the colours correctly. Look at photos from the 30's and 40's. These guys wore them all the time. Bret will also make them with a sewing seam of the panels facing forward or with a panel centered over the brim. The "standard" cut drapes kind of like the Trane repairman on the tv ads. I like mine to drape like a driver's cap. So when I have another one made I will speak with Bret about this. I have large noggin. Something like size 7-1/2 and a long oval to boot.(is this from a large brain?:wink2:). So it needs to be cut differently the next time. Anyroad, go on over there and take a look.

Regards, Todd

I've been thinking about getting one of these. It's hard to beat the price, that's for sure. Thanks for posting the link.

I have two of the newsboy hats. I really cant wait for it to get cooler. Unfortunately im in El Paso instead of NYC so I wont even be able to wear a jacket :(

even though i may wear fedoras...i have seen brent's handiwork in several examples and they are great. In workmanship and detail and in customer service.

Mark, I know you are a fedora and Panama man but judging from your pics, you would look great in a newsboy. I found out about Brent over at The Fedora Lounge a couple of years ago. Glad I called him up. Say, isn't it about time to post up some pics of your hats?

Regards, Todd

When Fall comes around I move from straw to felt, for the most part, but a newsboy cap fits certain moods better than anything else.

I have a Stetson that was my father's, and it's just a shade too small. One of these days, I'll find a match in XL.

Hey Todd,

Go to South Boston, (Southie). I'm sure you could find plenty of places that sell those caps.:001_rolle

Good Luck.

I was looking in the J. Peterman catalog and noticed a nice newsboy-style hat in there. A lot more pricey though!
