I've been having a horrible time with lather since I moved to upstate NY. My lather would be to airy, or like a dry paste. On a rare occasion I'd be able to hit that narrow sweet spot and my lather would be about right, but it happens vary rarely. I picked up a stick of Tabac while visiting a friend, tried it at her house and oh my, did the lather explode. When I got back to my place, all I could make was paste. I tried everything, a dry brush, a wet brush, going from face lathering to bowl, back again and everything in between. I mentioned to her the issues I was having yesterday, and she told me that she had soft water. The water I have here is something like 200ppm which is very, very hard. I went out and got a jug of distilled water for less then a buck, soaked my brush in a half a cup for 5 min or so and then loaded up my brush and went to town. OMG, a HUGE difference. I had lather everywhere! I'm using a stick of Arko I pressed into a bowl and I loaded for 30ish seconds. More then enough for 3 passes.

Once the wife and kiddlet move up, and I can buy a new house and sell the old one I'm definitely getting one.
