Is this adage true?

Is it 'generaly' a truism: 'Aggressive razor - mild blade, Mild razor - aggressive (sharper) blade. Discuss

I use aggressive blades (Feather, Perma-Sharp, Nacet, Personna Comfort Coated, Astra SP, Rapira Platinum Lux, Wizamet Super Iridium, Shark Platinum…) in everything. My less aggressive blades do not get used.

More than 95% of the time… I use the first four blades on my list. This week will be a huge exception to this, as it is Shark Week. I will be using Shark Platinum all week.

Even if I am using my Futur or other aggressive razor, I am using aggressive blade with it.

Varies from person to person.

Horse for courses here. Feathers are great in a BET, but I wouldn't use one in an R41.
Conversely, Derby Extras and Voskhods aren't sharp enough for a really mild razor, but work great in an R41 or similar razor.

I’m a new convert to mild razor with a mild blade…initially uncomfortable and tuggy shave (easily gotten used to) but a lot easier on the skin allowing for more passes even against the grain. Easy, consequence free BBS shave…daily if need be.

Perhaps in a few months, once ATG passes have been stored in muscle memory, I will try a sharp blade again just to see…

It’s not related to aggression, each individual razor is better paired with a specific blade. (For me)

My R41 is horrible with milder blades and way smoother with sharper options like a BIC. Doesn’t make any sense.

My progress, which I find quite aggressive, the same.

My Game changer is amazing with a derby extra. That would fit the description.

Sometimes the mild/aggressive combo works, but not always. I can’t see it as a pattern.

Many of us started our DE journeys trying multiple razors and blade combinations to find the right combination for skin type, beard growth and shave intervals. I started with mild to mid efficient (aggressive) razors. Using mid sharp blades. As my technique and soft touch improved I favoured efficient razors and sharpest blades. The higher the efficiency the fewer strokes needed. This was easier on my sensitive skin. I do a weekly single pass face and head shave. Single use a Feather blade & OC95 Lupo razor. A high efficiency combination. This has proved to be the gentlest shave for my sensitive skin. I would note that pre and post shave prep and routines are the largest time element of my shave. These can greatly affect your shave results in comfort and efficiency. My vote would go to high efficiency razor and sharpest blade possible.

Sharpest blades always.

This. Always. Unless a duller blade has something cool about it or neat animals for artwork (for example: Feather Hi Stainless is practically untouchable for a DE blade and is in a league of its own, but Nacet has a cute, li’l crocodile on the box).
