Hi
I use a 1940's Gillette Tech and a Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge (Green). With the same preparation and one-day growth, the razor slides smoothly.
But with a two-day growth it skips and pulls on the first pass. Does that mean that the razor might not be aggressive enough for my beard?
In my experience, I get the skip and pull from bad or dull blades regardless if I shaved the day before or skipped a day. Maybe shorter strokes on second day growth would help.
As other have remarked; this is a technique issue. Stick to your Tech and blade and work on your technique!
I myself use mainly a Feather AS-D1 head on a Weber handle, which is very comparable to the pre war Tech. There is no stubble that razor won't remove with the right concentration.
Aggressiveness is more a matter of taste.. personally, I am much more fond of mild to moderate aggression razors. But skipping on your face is more likely the cause of too long strokes, poor angle, poor lather quality or dull blade.
