Is it ok to use DE shaver in shower?

Hello, I am new to the DE world and I am interesting in purchasing my first one to get a closer shave. I am looking to purchase an Alabastron but was wondering if any of you shave while showering? Its a time saver for me. I simply hold my mirror up and shave, would this be a bad idea for a DE shaver? Or should I just stick with my Fusion?

Mind if you tell me your method? Do you have a mirror in your shower? I do but its kinda foggy. Kinda lazy to clean it lol. Do you hold a mirror up like i do?

It's ok to shave in the shower, but if you leave your wet razor in there, you might encounter some brassing or oxidization over time, depending of course on the razor and blade contained inside.

I used to de in the shower...heavy razor...sharper the blade the better...worked "ok"...just dry everything off and your fine

Well, how can you do it? The foam (lubrication for the blade) gets washed away or are you relying on the constant stream of water. That would be a waste. I cannot see how anybody mananges to do it that way.
No, dump the fusion. Think of shaving as a separate process. The experience should be enjoyed.

I sometimes shave in the shower. soap applied to the mirror will stop it fogging (I guess it could depend on the soap though).

my shower has a ledge so I can stand my mirror, brush, blades, soap etc with no problems.

before I started wetshaving I rarely shaved at the sink, preferring to showershave. now that I am a wetshaver I do most of my faceshaving at the sink, headshaving is done in the shower with the mirror, SE razor, brush and soap.

try hanging your mirror from the shower head/arm with some cord so it lies flat against the wall, this will leave your other hand free to assist with the shave. check out 'shave mirrors' on the internet - maybe someone here can recommend a vendor.

welcome to wetshaving and B&B dude!

Cool Thanks for all your assistance and one more question-what do the "33c" and "34c" mean? I am looking to get a merkur 1904. I am a mixed person-does it matter what shaver I get? It seems like the 33c is the most popular, should I get that one?

33 or 34 is the model number of the Merkur razor, the 'c' denotes the finish (chrome in this case, g is gold). I suggest you go to B&B sponsors Bullgoose or West Coast Shaving sites or try Connaught Shaving (or some other online vendor's site) and take a look at the range of Merkur razors. either 33 or 34c would be a great razor, as would the 1904.

razors/blades/brushes/soaps/aftershaves etc are very much a personal preference - a popular term here is ymmv, 'your mileage may vary'. this means that what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. if you like the look of the 1904 then go for it!

I shave in the shower every day.

If I try to at the sink I end up making a huge mess. Between rinsing and relathering, and shaking my brush dry- I just make a mess at the sink.

I agree that to keep away from rust and grime, I keep my razor in a safe place outside the shower between shaves.

The best thing I've found to keep my mirror fog free is face soap. Neutrogena liquid works best for me. Also, I use a red Solo cup with scalding hot water to soak my brush while I shower. Shaving is one of the last things I do in the shower. It gives my brush and beard time to soften up.

I only shave in the shower. I have a mirror with a suction cup and I face lather. Leave my tools in there too with no ill effects.

This was spot on for me. The one thing I do different is spray my mirror 2 or 3 times with a little "Scrub Free Clean Shower" its just a daily shower cleaner and it stays perfect for me the entire time.

I use DE in the shower every day. My mirror is mounted with a suction cup holder. I also have a suction cup holder for the razor. When the shave is over, I simply rinse the razor, shake off the excess water and hang it up until the next shave.

I always shave in the shower - I have a small mirror stuck to the outside of the shower pane so that it doesn't fog up.
Lather up (face, bowl, whatever) and shave away. The only way the lather gets washed away is if you put your face under the stream of water.
I find shower shaving works better for me than other methods (though I have yet to try cold water shaving).

I used to shave in the shower when I was always using a DE razor, now that I use straight almost exclusively I don't do that anymore since dropping a straight in the shower can be very dangerous to ones manhood....

I don't shave in the shower, but I do use the 1904. I love the look and feel of it, and I wouldn't say it is slipery like some say, but I don't think I could use it inthe shower due to the lower grip of the handle and constant wetness.
