Ink Review: Rohrer & Klingner Alt Goldgrün

Great looking green, writes out dry but not in a bad way as it flows well from my P51 which isn't the wettest writer I have to begin with but has so much character

I thought the ink would be to faint but it has a great saturation level so it is easily seen on the page

In a medium or wider nib this ink shades beautifully. Definitely a distinctive ink. R&K makes some nice ink.

My first attempt to do the qtip smear had shading all over the place it was crazy cool looking and I had to redue it

I could only imagine what my stub would do with it

Nice review! I have been looking for a new green (only have one, Noodler's Gruene Cactus), was looking for something a little more muted. This looks like it will work, just ordered a bottle.

I think you'll enjoy it a lot I know I have written a couple letters with it now and it worked great fpr me

I just loaded up a sample of this into my Waterman Thorobred. (Thanks to James/syngent for the sample!) The Waterman has a fairly flexible medium nib and this ink shades beautifully on the broad lines. It's definitely a unique color and surprisingly is quite legible. I was expecting something much paler, but this actually jumps off the page well. If I had to describe the color, it reminds me of a green olive, but a little darker and greener. Probably not something you'd want to use for business, but it would be great for personal notes or letters, particularly if you want to attract a bit of attention with something unconventional. I'll post a writing sample tomorrow when I get some good daylight for taking a photo.

Thanks for the review, James!

Just today I finished a cartridge of this in a Sheaffer Prelude (broad nib that was reground to an italic). I love this color; it has wonderful shadings and dries down a little darker so it is very readable. A broader nib helps to highlight the different colors after it dries.

It isn't something I use constantly, but it is very interesting to have in the rotation every couple of months.
