Indian Shave Creams

So I was driving through the part of town that has plenty of Indian stores and I remembered reading on here that Godrej is a good cream so I decided to look for some.

At my first stop there was no godrej, but I did see some Old Spice Fresh Lime, the box said SHULTON on it and I vaguely remember something about that being like the old formula for the AS but have no idea what it means really.

Second stop I found the Godrej and decided to get the "Rich Foam" because I already had some Proraso to take care of the menthol flavor, and just bought the lime old spice at the first store. I also saw some Palmolive shave cream and decided to go ahead and fork over the 2.29 for that stuff too. I have heard good things about thier shave sticks, but have never heard anything mentioned about their shave cream.

So are any of these creams any good? And which one should I start with tomorrow morning?

I just came into a bunch of shave creams from India and can offer you my two cents.

I have the "Musk" version of the Shulton Old Spice shave cream and of about 5 or 6 different creams from India, it is my least favorite. The scent is barely there and the efficacy is only about a 7 or so.

The Godrej is quite excellent. Fresh smell, great, thick later.

The Palmolive is even better.

I hope you enjoy putting them to the test yourself!

The Indian Palmolive has a unique, fresh scent and lathers quite well. I like it.

+1 million on Godrej. Awesome stuff.

i heard all good things about godrej deluxe, and that was why i went in, but when i got to the stores the only thing i saw was rich foam, menthol mist, and lime; are these the same as deluxe?

All are great. I have tried the menthol, lime and DeLuxe and think they are great values and a great product.

The Godrej is a decent cream, I tried it back to back with Proraso and ended up renewing my Proraso when both ran out...the proraso for me produced a more slick lather...

Proraso is a much better shave overall, but the godrej has alot more menthol. The other varieties are good, but theyre more plain jane. Might as well go to Rite Aid and get a tube of the Real Shaving Co. cream. I would like to try the Godrej shaving round though.

The indian Palmolive is different from the euro one. The euro Palmolive is my favorite, out of any cream. period. The Indian one will do well though.

The Old spice shave cream is nice, but I have since been turned on to Mama Bears old spice soap. I must say I prefer the soap. The cream in the tube seems to seperate after time, which I dont really care for.

The one indian item I cant live with out..The shulton old spice aftershave. I use it probably 3 or 4 days out of the week. The Lime is really great too.

I have had the palmolive, godrej, morisons, yardleys, dettol.old spice and park avenue creams, all of which were very good performers and all had wonderful scents...I order my indian creams from desistores.net

I shaved with the godrej this morning. My only problem was I started to feel like the cream was burning my skin during the second and third pass. Not a particularly intense burning, but it was noticable. I went ahead and stopped after the third pass expecting my face to be bright red, but there was no irritation at all. Not even on my neck where I almost always have some sort of irritation. So apparantly the cream did its job very well, I just don't know about the burning sensation. I don't know if it was just because my skin was dried out going in, or if I had some sort of reaction to something in the cream. I think if I was reacting to something in the cream it would have left some more evidence other than just a vague burning sensation. (I'm a very pale skined redhead whose skin turns red with anything other than a gentle touch it seems) I'm definately not giving up on the cream; my face felt great after the shave. I'll probably try it again whenever it comes back up in my rotation. I don't really mind the burn, I do put alum and an alcohol based AS on my face everyday, but I just wondered if anyone else felt a slight burn using this product as well?

I like the Old Spice Lime that I got. I think it performs great. But it smells like Fruit Loops. Not my favorite smell. If you can get the original flavor it smells much better.
