What's new

Imagine if King Kong used a straight razor.

In my travels today, I stopped at a local antique store looking for bargains & curiosities. Imagine my surprise when my wife pulled me aside to see this. Yes... you see correctly. That silver one in the middle is sitting next to a couple standard sized straights. When I picked this thing up, it must have weighed about two pounds. And yes - the blade is to scale. I can only imagine that it must be a decorative piece as the metal was clearly not suitable for taking and holding an edge (not that you'd want it to ). At $85, it was too rich for my blood as a mere curiosity. But I thought you guys would appreciate it.

Interesting - what was the story with the other two?

The top one was engraved with the days of the week on the blade. The other was completely roached. They wanted too much for the top one, unfortunately. On the other hand, I still came out of there with a great deal on a 7/8 Wosty IXL Sheffield wedge. It's cleaning up nicely too!

Nice pickup.
I might be wrong, but it looks like you might want to consider doing a little work on the shoulder before you get too far along with cleaning it up.
