Sad, sad day
My 5/8 Solingen hollow ground is not good to shave with anymore, it needs a touch-up.
And I don't have the gear. Yet.
Long story short;
I'm a long time wet-shaver, who just recently dived into straights, or more carefully tip-toed in should I say. Trying to be an responsible adult, I bought just one (1!!) vintage Tagore Solingen cheaply of an domestic auction website, decided not to buy any more & not buy strops, barber hones & all else a grown man needs to keep hairs out of his face, but instead settled for my mature decision & sent the lone Tagore out to Leon in Portugal, who returned it very sharp & smooth.
And we had such great start, me & Tagore, just on my third shave I experienced a full on tremendous shave!
Straight were the way to go, lovely thru & thru
The stropping was done on newspaper with great results,worked great for over a month, but yesterday it pulled more then what is acceptable & this morning was just
Time for a pasted strop or barbers hone of course.
Which I don't have!!! Because I acted mature.
And now I pay for it, no straight shaving for weeks
There is a light on the horizon, because I have one Heljestrand MK32 sent out to Kenrup for a restore & a Filly strop of course on the way back.
It should be a real treat to have a razor he's worked on!
And I few vintage EA Bergs are in the mail to me & one Eskilstuna Jernbolag bought locally that I will all send out for honing. But, like I said, there will be a period of non-straight shaves.
Well if you're still with me after this rant, sorry to put you thru it, but let this be a lesson for all of you.
It's always better to splurge, if you later on find it's not for you, there is always BST.
