What's new

If I can't have Old Spice.

After 7 months of wet shaving I'm finding that I've become nostalgic for those scents from childhood. I tried the new OS. Yikes too sweet!! I know there is the Indian version but it may or may not be in production long. So my question are there any other spice scents similar to old spice out there? Anything in the Pinaud line that subs? Thanks!

Hit the vintage stores. If you can't find any vintage Shulton OS, you have a good chance of picking up some Avon Spicy, and that is pretty close.

Go to the nearest Family Dollar and take a whiff of their Spice aftershave, it might be closer to what you are looking for.

Yes, yes. Even if you don't like your first impression, buy it anyway.

Agreed. It's pretty close...

This. :thumbup1: Your search will be ended and you'll get change back from the $2.00 that you hand to the clerk at checkout.

Yeah- Maybe, I guess SR and OS kinda smell the same... sort of... if you try real hard to make a connection... maybe.

Anyway, to the OP, do not apply the same amount of Special Reserve as you would Old Spice- cause if you do, WOW you will clear out a room. :)

I LOVE Avon Spicy, and am wearing it now. Applied a very liberal amount at 6:30 this morning, and it lasted until about 9am. If I had done that with SR, I think I would have been banned from the office.

I like a small dose of Special Reserve as much as the next guy, but I do not feel it smells anything like Old Spice. I would like to check out the Avon Spicy, though. Is it still in production or no? It's "new to me".

Umm.. yes, that's what I am talking about- Clubman SR. :)

Avon Spicy is long out of production, but there is lots of it out there. You can find it at thrift stores for a few bucks, or on Ebay for about $5.

I too am a fan of old spice, and have used the aftershave on and off, just when the mood strikes me. I think I realized that its sometimes not spicy enough for me, so I haven't been wearing it nearly as much. Just the other day I randomly picked up a bottle of Clubman Musk, because the tester I smelled intrigued me. When I got home and compared it to my OS, I was dismayed when I thought it smelled almost exactly the same.
Today I actually WORE the Musk for the first time, and it was great! A similar scent to OS, but something about it is different in a good way, and I felt like it had better staying power. I say go try some!

I haven't used Shulton or P&G Old Spice for years but the Family Dollar Vijon Old Spice knock-off is in my regular rotation. I mix a cap full of Family Dollar witch hazel in a small dixie cup with 4 squirts of the AS and apply two GENEROUS splashes to my face & neck. The AS/Witch Hazel blend works really well.

I will have to try the witch hazel/AS mixture. Any advice for purchasing Shulton/Vintage old spice online? Or should it be completely avoided. I'm really weary of buying a half full bottle and some seller using the term "toilet water" as a sick joke in their eBay description -- if you catch my drift.
