What's new

I think I'm dangerously close to calling myself a LOSER.

I've got a Gillette Tech, a Gillette Old Style Open Comb, an Edwin Jagger DE86bl, and a Gem Micromatic ClogPruf. I've done multiple shaves with all of them, but no matter how much I practice or try to concentrate on proper technique, my Gem is the only one of the lot that gives me a consistently smooth and irritation free shave. I'm thinking I might need to try some other SE razors, but the ClogPruf seems to outshine all the DE's I've tried.

It's the last razor I actually expected to become my favorite out of them, but it's certainly getting to that point in a hurry.

Now if only I could find some Treet SE razors locally. So far all I've had are the Walgreens GEMs and the CVS Carbon Steel. I heard Rite Aid had Treets, but none of the Rite Aids here seem to carry SE.

SE are great! I've recently become a LOSER myself...great shaving instruments they are. Re. the Treet blades, the only place I've seen them are on Amazon. The GEM SS blades are great IMO.

Your experience with the CP isn't surprising, it is a truly great razor. If you have any independently owned drug or grocery stores, or one of the smaller chain stores around, you might check them for Treet or Gem Blue Star blades. Family Drug stores carry Blue Star's and I've found Treet's at IGA grocery stores.

If you are looking for another SE to try, check out a GEM/EverReady/Star 1912. fantastic razor! some of the best shaves i have ever gotten are form that razor.

And it sounds like you haven't tried a lather-catcher yet (coolest vintage razors around, fancy engraving and all) :thumbup1:
