I decided to accompany my girlfriend who was meeting up with an old friend from school. Naturally, I said I'd come with if we can make a few stops while we were down there: Truefitt and Hill and Merz Apothecary. Guys, Merz Apothecary was even better than I imagined. Before I left there, and believe me, I had to restrain myself as much as possible, I left with Speick ASB, Speick shave stick, Trumper's Rose SS, Valobra shave stick, Provence Sante shave soap, and Speick shower soap. They also had some T&H colognes, and products by Proraso, Tabac, Musgo, Pre de Provence, and various Trumpers products. This is going to be a definite stop for me every time I'm in Chicago.
So what about T&H? I really loved their Blenheim Bouquet and Endymion and could not decide which one to get. Keeping in line with the B&B rule of thumb, I bought both of them! And then I got a pleasant surprise, I saw they have Blenheim shaving soap as well. I picked a refill puck of that up as well. I'm hoping to use this for my next shave and take some pics of the lather because I haven't found any yet on this site. I asked about their EF shaving soap and she told me it's getting discontinued which she said was a shame because it sold well. I'm not sure if this is a cause for alert for many of you but don't say I didn't warn you.
All in all it was an expensive trip to Chicago but hopefully it turns out to be well worth it. Oh yeah, to top off the day, the girlfriend surprised me with a gift certificate to T&H for a shave. I hope it's as good as I'm picturing it.
