What's new

I Had Me A Plastic Old Spice Day

I finally broke down and bought a brand new bottle of Old Spice Classic Cologne in the plastic bottle. I had planned on doing this for some time to compare the scent to the P&G glass version. I picked up a bottle while in Wal-Mart last week. I wore it instead of my Shulton on Thursday. It smelled fantastic. It has a much deeper, richer smell than the Shulton because it's brand new and has not had the decades of evaporation and mellowing like the former. I found myself constantly smelling my forearms, where I applied it. It lasted all day and into the night. I have been back and forth on this "re-formulation" issue and I must say that I am now on the fence about the whole thing. I really like the P&G OS cologne and am wearing it again today. I am sure it will smell like the Shulton version if I let it sit around for a while. The bottle of AS that I had previously banned to my garage now smells pretty good (I left the cork off it). I still love my vintage Old Spice but I will wear the new water more often. So what if it no longer contains saccarine. It still smells pretty damn good.

At this point, I'm inclined to think they are one in the same. This is a scent that changes on its own over time (for the better, as some have indicated).

I thought the main debate was for the old/new Old Spice after shave. The old/new colognes were thought to be fairly close.

But aren't they both the classic scent? The only difference is that the aftershave has proply glycol in it.
