What's new

I get it!

I've been very happy shaving with NB & Gentlemens Refinery. They are excellent creams and give me better results than the others that I have tried (AOS, TOBS, T&H, Trumpers). But, I figured its about time I give Poraso a try. You guys are always raving about it, but all this time I just figured that it had a cult following because it was cheap.

Well, I had my first Poraso shave this morning and all I can say is "wow!" I get it. Now I understand why you guys love this stuff. It is truly excellent. Its too early to tell if it is going to replace GR as my go-to, but it wont surprise me if it does.

Whatever floats your boat, I guess, but I just don't get all the hype about Proraso. I have a tube of it sitting in my shave den and I almost never reach for it. Pretty much every soap I ever tried is just as good if not better, including lowly VDH Deluxe (in my opinion).

i am in the middle on this cream i use and do okay with it but then seem forget about it for weeks on end. maybe it is just that darn tube color. I am of italian descent and think they should make blood red like a F1 ferrari

There used to be one! But they discontinued Proraso Red.

OK, so I pulled out the Proraso this morning to try it again, and this time I used about twice as much product as I normally do.

I was pretty impressed. I got a rich, thick lather than seemed to be very protective. Shave was comfortable.

Where this product shines, IMO, is in the face feel after the shave. Wow. Talk about smooth.

Maybe I spoke too soon about Proraso. Seems like I just need to use a lot more product than I have been using. :001_smile

I LOVE the smell and feel of Proraso but it absolutely destroys my face. It's a shame, because if it didn't I know I'd use it pretty frequently.

...and the beauty is, that at $10 per tube you can easily afford to use a larger amount. I use about 2x more Proraso/Bigelow than a GFT or T&H cream, but it's less than half as much. And that doesn't count the frequent 2-for-1 sales at Bath and Body Works... which works out to 1/4 the cost of GFT or T&H.

I'm still trying products and I'm relatively new at this, but Proraso has a place in my rotation.

$10 a tube??? I just bought some in Italy for EUR 1.22 a tube which works out to $1.78.
