I dropped my bowl in to the sink...

...and it smashed into a million pieces. Thankfully it didn't damage the sink.

I was drying it with a Chamois leather and it slipped out of my hand. It was a lovely glazed earthenware bowl by M&S that was left in my works lost property for over a year. So I am on the look out for a replacement. I doubt I'll get a posh one. I'm looking for something original, something that stands out in my display.

This is why I was terrified to use my scuttle and breakable bowls. I went stainless and plastic a while ago. That's a heartbreaking pic above.

Hit it with some low-grit sandpaper and/or carve some light crosshatch lines into it and it gets even better.

I use an enameled tin chili bowl that I place over a cheap ceramic soup bowl filled with hot water. It sort of takes the place of a scuttle and conducts heat nicely.

I use a stainless steel bowl that sits perfectly in the mouth of a cup FULL of hot water. Keeps my lather toasty warm....and cant break...

It happens. I've broken many coffee cups and soup bowls--some of which I really liked. Dangerous ritual this wet shaving is. It seems we are very careful only when we put blade to face. Anyway, in your part of the world there is a pottery master Steve Woodhead Ceramics. Scuttles, bowls, mugs. Check out Ebay for his offerings as well. Really high quality products that are reasonably priced in my opinion. Brilliant stuff. Also, shipping will be much less for you than it was for me in NYC. Good luck to you.
