I bought some Jeris without oil today and tried applying it after a shower. I still had little hairs sticking up all over the place and am wondering if there is some sort of method or better tonic available. After a little styling gel my hair looked fine. I used plenty of tonic though and was kind of dissapointed. I don't like the way gel feels in my hair so I usually don't use anything. I do have pretty short hair probably about a 1/4" that I cut myself with some dull clippers. I think I may need to recover from that.

I think that the little hairs sticking up all over the place are the fault of the dull clippers and not the hair tonic. Just splash a little in your hands (like you would aftershave splash) work in and well, with your hair being 1/4" there's not much you can do with it.
Hair tonic is more or less like a light version of hairspray but also intended to treat the scalp, e.g. help fight dandruff, add moisture, etc.

P.S. I use Wahl clippers with the bare blade on myself and then follow up with Hask hair and scalp tonic, it does a great job.

Hair tonic is neither Dapper Dan NOR Fop, so all your hairs lying flat are two weeks away from here. Your head appears to be a geographichal oddity.
