How Far Away Do You Hold An Atomizer

This is quite fundamental, but I don't really know. Most of my colones are splashes, which I prefer. For those with atomizers, how far away from the skin do you hold the bottle for spraying purposes? Too close would limit the distribution of the spray, too far would probably weaken what lands.

Wha do you guys do?

ive a loccitane one that i need to hold as far away from my body as I can (because its such a tight jet) and a polo one that releases a lazy cloud, so I hold quite close.

Generally (or on a new atomizer im unfamiliar with) about a foot away from my chest works for me.

I'd say that generally, if the atomizer was a camera, and I took a picture, it wouldn't capture my face. Like a really bad "selfie." I don't worry too much about it.

20 cm toward the neck...then rubbing with the inside of the wrist...then rubbing the inside of the wrists to the cheeks...I don't remember where or why I learned this...I looks girly, but the scent last more in those areas..

Typically, about 6" to 8 " (15 - 20 cm) away from me.

That sounds about right to me. On some of my more potent fragrances (e.g., Creed EdPs), I won't even spray them on me. I'll hold the sprayer to my wrist and depress gently, so I get a few drops of liquid, and transfer it to the sides and back of my neck. But for actual spraying, Ken's suggestion works well.

I searched and couldn't find anything in the Mess hall, so I hope this is not hijacking, but can anyone recommend a good brand of atomizer, and who might sell it? Thanks.

Creed makes a very good one, but it's $$$. They sell them for $160, but they can be found on eBay for $50 from someone named CherryGal. I've seen people vouch for her stuff in Basenotes.

Other than that it's some real specialty online places. Bigger sizes are tougher to find. Some suggestions in the thread below.

Thanks. I am beginning to get my legs around here a little bit, just a little. I am finding myself stunned at the amount of information available on this site.
