How do you keep track of your collection er AD?

First and foremost please note that I am pretty analytical. :w00t: I am starting a spreadsheet to keep track of my shaving collections / ad / rad / scad etc. I figure best to start while the collection is small.

I also have my spreadsheet stored in my dropbox (getdropbox.com) so I can access it on any of my computers. Here is what I track on the spreadsheet, each category is on a separate page.

Categories:
1. Razors (DE/SE/Straights)
2. Blades
3. Soaps
4. Aftershaves
5. Misc

Razors:

brand, model, approx year it was made, purchase price, description, new/used, condition, purchase date, vendor / seller, overall comments, sold/pif/traded to, selling price

Blades:
brand, model, description, quantity, purchase price, purchase price, vendor / seller, overall comments, buy again / rating

Soaps / Aftershaves:
brand, type, scent, description, quantity, purchase price, purchase price, vendor / seller, overall comments, buy again / rating, sold/pif/traded to, selling price

Misc:
I haven't set this page up yet...

Here is an example:
Gillette, Supper Speed, 1947, $15, No date code/notched silver, used, vg, 7/22/09, garyg @ B&B, nice clean razor mech works great cleaned up beautifully - very nice shaver.

This is probably way overkill, but I don't have the best memory for some of these details, but I feel many of things are important to know.

Do any of you do something like this or am I the only one?
If any of you do this type of thing, anything else you recommend tracking?

You could keep a list of what you have in the mentionned box. I have a text file to keep track of the stuff that I have and what I want to buy. When I finish a product or nearly finish one, I review it (I try to). Like that, I know that I tried it when I go back to see the reviews!

Kinda easy for me actually. I only have one razor... 2 pending bids on da bay though. Damn you B&B!!!! Actually I love it, you guys rule!!

I use a Google Docs Spreadsheet myself.
Item, Type, Date Received, Price paid, Date finished/sold, price sold, notes

I have an excel spreadsheet that keeps track of:

The days I shaved on.

What soap or cream I used and on what day.

What blade I used - and how many times.

And the vessel I used to make the lather: Hot Pot and quaich, Brush or Bowl.

Not only that, I've done a Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) a comparative study based on price and use over time of my razor blades, that I have in my collection.

Almost forgot. I even have figured out what my "Earned Shaving Average" is. For the past 8 months it's been hovering around 60%.

I know. I know. I'm One Cool Dude. :blushing:

I had to create an Excel spreadsheet........Oh ya, I need to go update it with that New DeLuxe I just scored....Thanks for reminding me...

Wow.... I just open up the large closet in the shave den and there is the whole collection. No need to track anything down. :closedeye

This is a bit of a long shot outside my normal circle, but there's a collections manager called Tellico that runs on Linux, tailored for the KDE window manager.

If anyone's running Linux/KDE, Tellico's great!
