How can I test drive a razor? (want to try a Merkur open comb & slant)

Is there a service that will let me test drive a razor?

After about 8 to 10 weeks in, I am thinking that my Merkur 180 is too mild for me, I would like to "try" a Merkur open comb and slant before I make too many decisions on my long term game plan.

I know that Garry does software samples (I just got an order from him a few weeks ago)

Wondering if anyone does hardware samples (where you can try a razor out for a few weeks?)

Please advise...

Never heard of this. You will just have to try to find one on the BST and then resell it if you don't like it. You won't lose much money this way.
Why don't you try to shim your Merkur 180 to see if it improves the shave?
i wouldn't get the Mekur open-combs as they are milder than the closed-combs like the one you have. The Slant might be a better shaver for you. However, it just sounds like you need to find the proper blade and improve your technique, really.

Yes it is called BST

The Merkur OC is going to be milder than your 180 so that one might not be a good idea if you are looking for more blade

Never heard of this type of service. There are occasional pass arounds, but they may have long wait times and are often reserved for established members and/or contributors.

buy one, try it and put it up on the BST for sale or trade if it doesn't work....

i don't see anyone or any vendor offering up a razor loan type of service, there are too many risks involved and shipping back and forth would not be cost effective.
