Horse Hair Shaving brush

Just won a Horse Hair brush on ebay. The brush is made in Pakistan and a picture is enclosed. Does anyone have any information on this particular brush or any Horse Hair brushes. Yes I am familiar with the Anthrax issues dating from WWII? This brush is 5" tall and the brush portion is 2".

Thanks for the info - Just went to their site and I think you hit it correctly the brush handle looks identical to the variety sold on Shave-a-Buck, just a slightly different color.

I have one of these brushes and it is a Shave a Buck. You will love the knot it has a great feel. Softer than a boar stiffer than badger. This brush provides great lather.I think you will really enjoy it.My knot has lost a lot of hair.
Cheers ,Rocket

I have the short handle in orange and a black knot.
The knot ran a bit but went away.It feels great but if it keeps loosing hair at this rate it will soon be bald.I dont think the base of the knot has any epoxy
to hold the hair.I do like the horse hair it is a neat feel .I am sure the vendor will take care of this brush .I just hope they are not all made this way.
Cheers Rocket

Thanks for all the information. I am looking forward to trying this brush. I have one Badger, one boar, one synthetic, and soon one horsehair brush. I really like the synthetic for ease of creating lather from creams and quick drying, and I am hoping the horsehair is even better on the lather. The boar brush is my least favorite and seldom used. Curently switch between the badger and the syn.

here's a spanish site who sells horsehair brushes (and nice shaving sticks that i'm waiting), by the way i discover they still got some filarmonica :w00t:

This brush is a lathering fool. KMF cream wet brush and four to five swirls and it looked and felt like whip cream. Lost a few hairs on the first attempt but will see how it is after a few shaves.

I really like this horse hair brush. It is easy to make a ton of excellent lather; however it does migrate toward the knot and need to be squeezed down and reloaded between passes. It takes getting the mixture of water and cream correct (depending on how you like your lather). It dries in about the same time it takes for the boar brush, much slower than the synthetic. I will continue to use this in my rotation because it works and is a good addition to my brushes. I plan to use this and the synthetic when traveling.
