Honing uneven..? Question...

Hi, everyone!

Picked up a Spanish-style Boker 1056 in a thrift store today...
Looks like hell with busted scales, but figure it could make a nice restoration project...

But here's my question...
When I look at the down at the head, it seems the hone wear is uneven...
One side is much more worn down than the other.

Is this of particular concern, do you think?

I won't be honing this myself at first (still learning).
I'm more concerned with the quality of the shave,
and whether the razor may not be iworth the investment...

Attached a few pix, but wasn't able to capture the hone wear...

Thanks!

Nice spine on that razor, I really will be of no help , but I see your in NYC , what thrift store did you find that in. I have been trying to find some places that have old razor's?

Yeah, there's a beauty under that tarnish...
I have maybe 5 straight razors now,
in the $15-$40 range as I'm still learning (2 months).

But when I held this one I knew it was special...
The balance is exceptional... and its gorgeous.

But back to the question, the thrift store was on Long Island, in Northport.
Don't know the first place to look in NYC for an old razor...
Maybe in some vintage stores in the East Village.

*Actually, maybe thats a good idea! :biggrin1:

I hope the pitting is not too deep otherwise the blade might not be save-able...
