Does anyone have any tips on how to hone the whole length of a smiling blade? I've got an old Wolstenhom wedge with a smiling blade. I can hone the centre part of the blade really well but I'm struggling to get a real nice edge on the tip and toe.
You can find the videos here. The easiest way to hone a smiling blade is to use a narrow hone. This is one of the reasons why I had my 3" hones cut in half.I am sure Ken Rup talks about it in his videos and using a "rolling" stroke but I don't know where I found the link to his vids, there were nine videos in total I think about strops and hones...
And, they touch on it here
