Honeybee Spa Soaps

Gentle your help please. I’ve read the reviews on HBS soaps and am itching to try them. Firstly, is this a similar glycerin soap to Col Conk and QED shave sticks? I have both and like them a lot. Secondly I’ll probably get the 3 puck variety set so which scents should I try? ( so far it is out of Old Spice, Yuzu, Cherry Pipe Tobacco and one of the vanilla scents)
Thanks

Yes they are similar; however, QED shave sticks have great scents also. Col.Conk is a classic. If you get the 3 pack, when they arrive you'll wish u had purchased the six pack!

Out of the ones you've mentioned, I would go with the Old Spice,Yuzu, and Sandalwood Vanilla.

So true. I did. (Wish I'd ordered the 6-pack, that is...)

I think it's a moral imperative--I'd have to look up where it's written --to try HBS Mocha Java. :001_wub:

I consider the HBS soaps to be 'best of breed' of the crafter soaps available from the folks who cater to the B&B'ers.

Load the brush and build the lather directly on your face. HBS lathers extremely well, provides excellent slip/glide for the razor, softens the whiskers, smells nice, modest cost. Recommended.

I'll have to jump on the bandwagon here myself.

I have had very good results with HBS soaps. I am especially fond of the Eucalyptus Spearmint, and the Olde Barber shop. I have tried others with good results as well. The Cedar smells incredible but for some reason my puck doesn't work as well as the other HBS products I have used.

Get the 6 pack, and you can't go wrong.

Comparing HBS to QED, for me HBS has the edge on performance and price. QED has the edge on scent, BUT...HBS sells EO based soaps now, so I'm interested in finding out how they compare. I may just break down and buy a couple. I have way too much soap and cream as it is, so I'm trying to be a bit rational here. We all know how that ends up.

When it comes to the FO based soaps, there are some that I liked pretty well. Yuzu, Rosemary mint, Old Spice, and Ye Old Barbershop are good, as long as you don't expect something that smells really really natural. Yuzu is citrusy and bright, Rosemary mint smells kinda like mint ice cream, not so much like mint leaf. The rosemary addition makes it a bit herbaceous though. Old Spice brought back memories of the smell of canned shaving foam from my adolescent years. Ye Old Barbershop is powdery, hints of "amber" if you know the scent, and musk, pretty old fashioned as you would expect.

I'm not sure of the ingredients of QED soaps, but what I think makes the difference for HBS are the additions to the soap for good skin care, shea butter, hempseed oil, white kaolin china clay. The lather is fairly low volume, but very slick and leaves your face feeling very soft.

For the price its a steal. Around $4 a puck, I would buy as much as I can. I think they are better than the Col Conks.

Just a followup that I succumbed to temptation and ordered some EO HBS soaps. I got Lavender Rosemary Peppermint, Bergamot, Pure Lime, and Rosewood Cedar. I had a balance on my Paypal account itching to be spent. I'll follow up with my thoughts when they arrive.

+1 The Mocha Java is my favorite scent. I get the Mocha Java as a bar soap for pre-shave prep as well.

For me Honeybee soaps are slicker and give a better save then Col Conk. Col Conk I get more lather (I think that Col Conk is a softer soap so maybe it loads better hence more lather).

As much as I want to like Honeybee soaps they burn my face a bit. They are the only soap I every used that did this (I used Col Conk, VDH, Caswell Massey, Tabac, Crabtree & Evelyn Nomad, Speick, Ogallala, Mamabear)

I would definitely give Honeybee a try. They work well and are really reasonably priced. I have the green irish tweed and ye ole barber shop. Both smell great.

I just wouldn't order 6 of them just in case they burn your face.

My favorite is Mountain Meadow, followed closely by Old Spice, Juicy Strawberry, Lime, Clean for Men, and Cedarwood Amber. I think they compare most closely to the performance of VDH Deluxe, though with much nicer scents.

what does green irish tweed smell like?

Has anybody tried Honeybee Spa Hydrogen? I think it's a relatively new addition. I love Mama Bear Hydrogen, but I also love HBS soaps, so thought I might try it.
